An initiative of Jornal das Oficinas in partnership with T Academy

A big challenge for workshops

After an interval of two years, due to the pandemic, the Jornal das Oficinas, in partnership with the T Academy, organizes in 2022 the “Challenge Oficinas”

We returned this year to challenge workshops in Portugal to participate in a competition, whose objective, in addition to winning, is also to be able to share knowledge and experiences with other workshops, gain new skills and a different strategic vision of the workshop management models that currently exist in the market.

It is a competition that will allow each workshop to become aware of what it is worth in terms of human resources and as an organization. Basically, it consists of a self-assessment process, while it is a playful competition.

They gain a broader and more strategic view, understand the interaction between the different functional areas and the conditions of the market in which they compete. The performance in the competition reflects the value of the workshop in the after-sales market.

The aim is to foster a healthy competitive spirit, teamwork and creativity between the workshops by conducting tests in various areas related to the automotive after-sales, namely: workshop management, reception, parts, marketing and technique. In this way, employees are enthusiastic about a challenge where the workshops have an open path to evolve.

Easy to participate

To participate in this competition, the workshops only have to answer the questionnaire that we publish online on the event website at and qualify to be one of the workshops selected for the grand final.

The competition is open to all independent and branded workshops in mainland Portugal and the islands.

Registration runs until the end of April and during the months of February, March and April, workshops can answer the questionnaire that is online.

In early May, the Jury will visit the 6 selected workshops to select the 3 finalists who will compete in the final on June 18th.

Participation Diplomas will be offered to all participating teams, trophies to the first classified. The Challenge Oficinas sponsoring brands will also offer prizes to all participants.

If it's an organized workshop, well equipped and with competent and up-to-date human resources, take this opportunity to participate in a unique and challenging event, where only the best manage to reach the final.

Wide dissemination online and offline

During the months in which the competition takes place, all developments of the initiative will be published on the event's website, Jornal das Oficinas and social networks, as well as thematic articles on good workshop management practices, new services, advice and trends. The initiative's visibility will be huge and the teams will be put to the test in front of a wide audience of readers who will be able to follow the development of the competition on the different platforms online and offline.

After the selection of the six selected workshops, T Academy consultants will visit the workshops to assess their organization and functioning and the three best will be finalists.

The Jornal das Oficinas team will monitor the assessment work of the T Academy auditors and portray the functioning of the visited workshops, with interviews with the owners and employees. The aim is thus to convey to the market the opinion of car repair and maintenance professionals on the evolution of the sector, its concerns, needs and concerns.
